Kalaniyot at Cornell Postdoctoral Fellowships

Postdoc applications are now closed.

Selected fellows will be welcomed into a vibrant community for one- to three-year fellowships. The objective is for Israeli researchers to conduct cutting-edge research, build strong research ties to Cornell, and maintain connections with their Cornell colleagues after they return to Israel. A cohort of three to four postdoctoral fellows will be selected annually. Read Frequently Asked Questions for applicants.

Overview

  • Awards are open to residents of Israel who have recently completed PhDs at Israeli universities. Fellows are expected but not required to return to Israel to continue their research careers.
  • Applicants must identify and gain the support of a Cornell faculty mentor. Each faculty mentor can support one application. Applicants can have multiple co-mentors. If co-mentors are listed, one mentor must be identified as the lead mentor to accept and manage fellowship funds.
  • Applications will be reviewed for merit and feasibility by a selection committee of faculty experts. Award decisions are final.
  • The postdoctoral fellow, mentor, department, and college are responsible for meeting all compliance requirements associated with the award, including any IRB and animal research approvals.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for a Kalaniyot at Cornell postdoctoral fellowship if:

  • You are a current resident of Israel
  • You earned a PhD at an Israeli university since 2022. Preference will be given to applicants within a year of completing the PhD.
  • You are qualified to undertake agricultural research at Cornell, with the support of a Cornell faculty mentor. Only Cornell assistant professors, associate professors, and professors are eligible to serve as faculty mentors.
  • This will be your first postdoctoral appointment outside Israel

Award Amount

Successful applicants will be hired as Cornell employees with a minimum annual salary of $62,232, plus health insurance and benefits. An additional allowance for relocation and travel will be determined with selected fellows.
